    Socialinės technologijos : mokslo darbai = Social technologies : research papers. Vilnius : Mykolo Romerio universitetas, 2015, t. 5, Nr. 1., p. 32-43
    This article aims to determine and analyse the main approaches of evaluation of cluster or group performance under information asymmetry within cluster. It is assumed that one of the most relevant causes of information asymmetry inside the business clusters are the different interests of its stakeholders and their willingness to dominate. This paper contributes to the further analysis, development and generalisation of evaluation approach of cluster performance and of the impact of information asymmetry on the activities of business clusters. Purpose – is to investigate the impact of information asymmetry on the evaluation on performance of business clusters and the methods and approaches of evaluation of performance with regard to information asymmetry. Design/methodology/approach – general overview of research papers presenting concepts and methodologies of evaluation of performance with regard to information asymmetry. Findings – information asymmetry has a significant impact on the performance of business clusters, and can be the decisive factor in the viability of a cluster. The members of cluster can be seem as subjects willing to dominate in cluster and to gain a relatively more portion of profit of clusters, some conflicts of interests can appear. However, there is no universal approach for evaluation of the impact of information asymmetry on cluster or group efficiency. This paper aims to highlight the main types of information asymmetry and respective approaches of evaluation analysed by the researchers. Research limitations/implications – the complexity and nature of information that can be used in the process of creation of innovation. The strong assumptions on information asymmetry from one side and the lack of advanced investigation focussed on the evaluation of business clusters performance efficiency under information asymmetry from other side are the most relevant limitations of research. Therefore the conclusions are focussed only on the conceptual level and analysis of possible further steps in creation of respective methods or models. Practical implications – information asymmetry has a significant impact on the activities and performance of business clusters, and can be the decisive factor for a viability of a cluster and creation of innovations. This study will contribute to the further development and generalisation of evaluation approach of cluster performance and of the impact of information asymmetry on the activities of business clusters. Originality/Value – This case in terms of business cluster performance and creation of innovations is not exhaustively analysed by other researchers. This paper is one of the first attempts to describe and make an assessment of the evaluation of clusters with financial contagion in the Baltic States. The findings of this article should ground the further steps of the creation of evaluation of performance efficiency under information asymmetry.

    Socialinės technologijos : mokslo darbai = Social technologies : research papers [Elektroninis išteklius]. Vilnius : Mykolo Romerio universitetas, 2014, [Nr.] 4(1)., p. 139-150
    The findings of this article should ground the macro-prudential policy in the small countries of supervising institutions focussing on the external factors. Practical implications – identification of the channels of external and internal negative shocks to the banking sector of the Baltic States; useful not only for the banking executives providing business trends and officers of supervising institutions that should use not only Basel III requirements, identifying potential sources of risk in the near future, but for the rest part of the society, both ordinary citizens and entrepreneurs having current accounts and deposits in banks. Originality/Value – modelling of systemic risk and analysis of instability causes of the banking sector by applying reliable quantitative methods in Lithuania is insufficiently developed and is impossible without knowing the mechanisms of transitions of external and internal shocks on banking sector. Researchers have provided an exhaustive analysis of contagion and channels of contagion in global extent or in another cases and regions. The banking sectors of the Baltic States are essentially controlled by the same foreign banking groups and the liquidity problems faced by international financial groups could therefore spill over into the other banks in the Baltic States. This case is not exhaustively analysed by other researchers. This paper is one of the first attempts to describe and make a quantitative assessment of the financial contagion in the Baltic States. Large dependence of the banking institutions in the Baltic States on their investors means not only the simple attraction of capital flow but additional risk that can arise due to the lack of liquidity or panics of patronising financial institutions. The findings of this article should ground macro-prudential policy focussing on the external factors.

    Klasterių veikla Lietuvoje: iššūkiai ir galimybių paieška
    [Cluster activity in Lithuania: challenges and search for opportunities]
    research article; ;
    Socialinės technologijos : mokslo darbai = Social technologies : research papers [Elektroninis išteklius]. Vilnius : Mykolo Romerio universitetas, 2014, [Nr.] 4(1)., p. 192-204
    Tikslas – analizuoti ir apibendrinti inovatyvių verslo įmonių klasterių veiklos Lietuvoje problemas bei pateikti siūlymus, kaip būtų galima tobulinti situaciją, ir nustatyti pagrindinius jų veiklos rizikos šaltinius. Metodologija – bendroji mokslinės literatūros apžvalga, kurioje pateikiamos verslo klasterių veiklos efektyvumo ir veiksnių, darančių neigiamą įtaką jų veiklai, analizės metodikos, atvejo analizė. Rezultatai – nustatyta verslo klasterių rizikos struktūra, problemos Lietuvoje ir tobulintini dalykai. Tyrimo ribotumas – tyrimo ribotumą lemia kiekybinių duomenų trūkumas ir informacijos konfidencialumas. Dėl šios priežasties kyla sunkumų sukurti adekvačius dinaminius veiklos efektyvumo vertinimo modelius. Praktinė reikšmė – inovacijų plėtra ir viešojoje erdvėje, ir siauresnėje akademinėje erdvėje pateikiama gana vienpusiškai, kaip pažangos rodiklis, tačiau Lietuvoje mažai diskusijų, ar klasteris tikrai yra optimali forma siekiant sukurti sąlygas verslo inovacijoms. Taip pat iki šiol nepakankamai analizuota rizika, susijusi su inovacijų kūrimu ir klasterizacija, nors tai yra vienas pagrindinių rizikos kapitalo fondų finansavimo objektas. Šiuo straipsniu siekiama nustatyti verslo klasteriams būdingas rizikos savybes ir struktūrą. Originalumas / vertingumas – išskiriamos pagrindinės klasterių veiklos Lietuvoje efektyvumo ir rizikos vertinimo problemos, apibrėžiama klasterių veiklos rizikos struktūra.

    Valentinaitė, Aistė
    Socialinės technologijos = Social technologies. Vilnius : Mykolo Romerio universitetas, 2014, [Nr.] 4(2)., p. 401-413
    Tikslas – išanalizuoti sudėtinių indeksų sudarymą (konstravimą) bei socialinių reiškinių vertinimą sudėtiniais indeksais, pagrįstais rodikliais (indikatoriais) ir jų savybėmis. Norint pasiekti šį tikslą, keliami šie uždaviniai: indikatorių konstravimo pagrindų ir jų galimų taikymų apžvalga, vertinimo sistemų pranašumų ir trūkumų klasifikacija, atskirų sudėtinių indeksų, taikomų socialiniams reiškiniams vertinti, lyginamoji analizė; duomenų struktūros ir duomenų kokybės įtaka sudėtinių indeksų, taikomų socialiniuose technologijose, suderinamumui aptarimas. Metodologija – taikomi mokslinės literatūros analizės ir atskirų atvejų kokybinės turinio analizės metodai. Rezultatai – šiame darbe apžvelgti ypatumai ir problemos, su kuriomis susiduriama konstruojant socialinių reiškinių vertinimo indeksus. Klasifikuojamos pagrindinės problemos, susijusios su sudėtinių indeksų, taikomų vertinant socialinius reiškinius, konstravimu. Be to, šiame darbe analizuota, kokią įtaką nekorektiški duomenys ir duomenų struktūra daro sudėtinio indekso konstravimui.

    Modelling of systemic risk of banking sector
    [Bankų sektoriaus sisteminės rizikos vertinimo modeliavimas]
    research article;
    Socialinės technologijos : mokslo darbai = Social technologies : research papers [Elektroninis išteklius]. Vilnius : Mykolo Romerio universitetas, 2013, [Nr.] 3(2)., p. 359-371
    Practical implications – determination of the explicit connection based on quantitative methods determining the systemic risk of the banking sector would be exact and objective assessment and useful not only for the banking executives providing business trends, identifying potential sources of risk in the near future, but also for the rest part of society, both ordinary citizens and entrepreneurs with current accounts and deposits in banks. Originality/value – in essence, modelling of the systemic risk and analysis of instability causes of the banking sector applying reliable quantitative methods in Lithuania are not sufficiently developed. Researchers in other countries have established that a high threat of systemic risk is concentrated in the interbank market; many researches have been done to assess this risk, however, problems related to assessment of systemic risk and application of models always occur. The most common problem is the lack of information and assumptions, and constantly changing economic environment: emerging (or which may arise) new types of transactions, the new banking regulatory conditions and other financial innovations. First, whether the country’s banking business is so dependent on each other to create the threat of the systemic risk between banks’ assets and liabilities. Second, the banking sectors of the Baltic states are essentially controlled by large foreign banking groups, so there is no doubt that the international financial groups’ liquidity problems could spill over to other banks in the Baltic states. On the other hand, a question remains essentially and completely unexplored: how and why such problems could spill over in the Baltic Sea region countries? Also, little attention has been paid to the reliability of interbank payment systems and to the analysis of this object as a potential source of systemic risk.

    research article;
    Socialinės technologijos : mokslo darbai = Social technologies : research papers [Elektroninis išteklius]. Vilnius : Mykolo Romerio universitetas, 2012, [Nr.] 2(1)., p. 77-87 :
    Purpose – This paper examines whether there is a significant difference between Mykolas Romeris University and College of Applied Social Sciences students, their knowledge of Mathematics acquired in school, and the choice to take the final Mathematics examination or not; and their further studying results and motivation. Design/methodology/approach – Test results are analysed by statistical hypothesis testing methods. Findings – The motivation of University students, who have taken the Mathematics examination, to study and achieve better results, is stronger. Research limitations/implications – represented method is one of the ways to inquiry such problems. Practical implications – This study will help to identify the University and College students' weaknesses and to show ways to improve the quality of studies. Originality/Value – The study should allow to measure the average time it takes University and College students of social sciences to understand a mathematical text.
