Objectives of the work – to disclose the contents of principles of social integration of disabled; the place occupied in the background of social integration of disabled and the importance in the formation of legal status of a disabled person. Law on social integration of disabled consolidates a new phenomenon in the social policy of disabled: principles of social integration of disabled. The first part of the work introduces the main notions, connected with principles of social integration of disabled. On the basis of them the notion of principle of social integration of disabled is derived (it is not separated as such in legal deeds). The relation of these principles with the ideas of social model is pointed out. The selected principles of social integration of disabled are analyzed, the ones that no doubt directly influence and regulate the actual reality of social integration. While investigating the contents of them, the problems of social policy and legal basis of the Republic of Lithuania are touched. In general it is too early to evaluate the influence of the principles; however, the analysis of legal deeds allows to assume that the legal basis is being improved towards the right direction, especially during the last years. Regarding the fact, that the human factor, determined by psychological phenomena existing in the society, still dominates in nowadays Lithuania, and seeking to further develop integration of disabled, the biggest attention should be drawn to the means of information and education of the society. They are useful in two ways: they increase tolerance and ensure not only destigmatization, but also the effectiveness of principles of equal rights, equal possibilities, and prevention of discrimination. At the end of the work the functions of social integration of disabled are singled out and enlarged upon. The policy, that contradicts the principles expressing the directions and priorities of the whole social integration of disabled, will be high-handed in whatever form it would appear. That is how the relation of principles of social integration of disabled with the process of social integration of disabled is based.
