A child may suffer from violence everywhere, school is one of the places, where a child can suffer from it. This work tries to review and pay more attention at finding out the causes and effects of the schoolchildren’s violence at school, because nowadays it is a painful and sore problem of our country, it is difficult to notice it and to determine its dispersion. In this work the violence is concerned as more or less insulting actions, words, remarks, threatening, prohibition, frightening, that is aimed to cause pain to a child, to frighten him/her, to make him/her understand the dependence upon the offender and to obey the offender. This topic was chosen because of its urgency, since nowadays we can hear on TV and in the newspapers more and more about the schoolchildren, who have suffered physical, sexual violence and compulsion. The violence is caused not only by children. Teachers cause the violence as well. Attending school many schoolchildren do feel unsafe. This is a big problem that indicates the need of the immediate means of violence prevention and control, diminishing the violence appearance among the children at the training institutions. The causes and effects of the violence are less concerned. In order to find out the cases of the schoolchildren’s violence against the schoolchildren, its causes and effects, to research the real situation at schools, giving information about institutions, helping in the case of the suffering from violence, it was made the empirical research. As the main research method it was chosen a questionnaire filling. The questionnaire was formulated by the author of the work; it consists of 13 questions. There were interviewed 347 respondents. The empirical research was carried out in 4 schools of the Vilnius region, in Nemencine town and Nemencine area (in the secondary school and gymnasium of the Nemencine town, and in two schools of rural area – secondary and primary), in year 2006. The population of the research are schoolchildren of 13-16 years old. During the research it was indicated, that violence among the schoolchildren exists, and this problem becomes more urgent. The empirical research has proved, that schoolchildren of the younger age (13-14 years old) suffer from violence more often than the older ones (15-16 years old). This probably could be explained by the possibility of the elder schoolchildren to protect themselves because of being stronger. Unfortunately, we must acknowledge, that schoolchildren mostly suffer from the physical violence caused by the class mates; the emotional violence is usually caused by the elder schoolchildren and by the teachers, even if it seems strange. Taking into account the causes of the violence, schoolchildren think that the violence to them was caused because they just did not want to obey somebody’s rules. Schoolchildren usually indicate the emotional and psychological effects of the violence caused to them. In case of suffering from violence, schoolchildren would first of all tell to family members and friends. Schoolchildren are not very much prone to tell their problems to the school association or other institutions. There were also such respondents, who stressed, that in case of the suffered violence they would not tell anybody.
