This final work is analysis of European Union structural funds for rural development. The year 2004 is a historial year for our country – the Republic of Lithuania became a member of the European Union (1 May, 2004). After joining the most powerful global economic and defense structures, Lithuania again became a European country with a stable political and economic future. Rural areas are increasingly valued as part of national infrastructure having a direct impact on the quality of life of rural and urban population. In terms of significance, the agricultural sector comes among the priority sectors of national economy. Lithuania’s integration in the EU and effective utilization of national and EU compensatory and investment assistance have produced the largest impetus for change in national agriculture and rural areas. Agriculture and rural development comprise a priority area for the state as far as its economic, ecological, social and ethnical cultural aspects are concerned. Final work made from four parts in which is analysed: In the first part of this work is laid out information about appliances of rural development plan and general programming document. In the second part is analised present rural position. Also here is mentioned the main problems of rural development. The third part of this final work is analysis of EU strukctural funds. I trayed to find out what was thinking country-people about rural development problems, is there any profit from structural funds. The last part is a look in to the future. It’s about innovation of rural development problems.
