The legal acts oblige Lithuanian police officers to develop their qualification constantly. Though this process is regulated, the number of training programs is increasing, the number of participants in courses is increasing, but the question, how the training, where officers improve their qualification, is useful to the employee itself, how to the police institution, and how actually the right to in-service training is implemented, remains. The aim of this final work is to analyze the in-service training of human resources in Lithuanian police. The concept of qualification improvement, the different interpretation of its meanings bounds
is studied in this work, also it is tried to identify the police officers in-service training process, to value the problems, concerning police officers
qualification improvement, to survey the police officers opinion about a qualification improvement and to identify the need of particular training and to estimate if a current in-service training is enough for police officers to be able to do police functions. The Lithuanian police officers
in-service training system is compared with police officers in-service training system in USA, it is tried to value the ability to use an experience of a foreign country in Lithuania. Legal aspects of police officers
in-service training in Lithuania is also analyzed in this work. While analyzing the situation in Lithuania, author discusses the results of sociological research and presents some recommendations how to solve the problems. The work brings us to the conclusion, that the current police officers in-service training system lacks wholeness and versatility, the use of various training forms, the guarantee of police officers
mandatory in-service training implementation.
