Abstract

Drug users in Mažeikiai social demographics chacteristics and social or medical needs. Keywords: HIV, AIDS, drugs, narcotism, addict, social problem, social service. World Drug Report results shows that there are 5 percents drug users round the world in 15-64 age group. About 0,6 percents worlds population have social and medical problems. The problem of drug users is relevant also in Lithuania. In various cities of Lithuania drug use are spread uneven. Main aim of this final paper is to analyze theoretical and empirical data of drug intravenous user, their social and medical needs. Social and medical service must be available (here and now), effective healing should be complex. Social service should be perpetually evaluated and changed to persons volatile. Healing help must be adequate to age, gander, cultural peculiarities. In Mažeikiai were interview 52 respondents: 50 men and 2 women. 71,15 of them have less than secondary education. Intravenous drugs use starts at 14 years. Most of research population is from 15 to 21 years. They all need medical and social help and this need is rising. Most of them wish that social help be in money but not social services. In other cases person’s needs of help by finding work, temporal home. Also they need law consultations.
