The implementation of e-health project is particularly relevant to the development of e-health strategies for 2005-2010. The level of the project implementation is not the same in all health care institutions. The main aim of the research is to estimate the functional efficiency of e-health project and the quality of treatment as well as service in Vilnius University Hospital Santariškių Klinikos, Centro Clinics and Šeškinės Clinics . In order to achieve the aim mentioned above the following steps had to be taken: • the examination of the level of e-health project implementation in the health care institutions in question; • the analysis of the time the patients’ registration and their visit at the doctor’s take; • the analysis of doctors’ working hours distribution; • the estimation of patients’ examination efficiency and the ways the examination / tests’ results are stored; • the assessment of doctors’ computer literacy and the sources of information acquisition; • the analysis of the aspects of management quality improvement; • the analysis of the existing problems in health care institutions and the needs of patients and doctors�� in improving the patients’ service and the quality of treatment services. The following methods of analysis used: • interview; • questionnaire; • comparative analysis; • generalization. With reference to the accomplished research the following means in improving the health care quality could be taken: • the implementation of new technologies; • the orientation of health care organization towards the patient; • the development of the health care technologies evaluation system; • the improvement of doctors’ computer literacy.
