Abstract
The correlations of stress paradigms of nouns and adjectives used in Lithuanian journalese texts of 1993-1995 and their comparison with analogous journalese data of 1973-1974 are discussed in this article. The following conclusions have been drawn: 1. The most frequent within Lithuanian journalese texts are root stress nouns, the majority of which being 1 stress paradigm words. 2. The most frequently used nouns of 1 stress paradigm usually have accent on a penultimate syllable, the most frequent words being with suffixes -yba or - -ybė. The words with suffixes -ãvimas, -ãcija are rather frequent among nouns of 1 stress paradigm as well. 3. There are few nouns of 3a stress paradigm and only five of 34b and one of 34y stress paradigm nouns within investigated texts. 4. The most frequent within Lithuanian journalese texts are adjectives of 1 and 4 stress paradigm. 5. The most frequent among suffixal adjectives of 1 and 2 stress paradigm are adjectives with suffix -inis,-ė, among adjectives of 1 stress paradigm are rather frequent derivatives with suffix -ingas, -a. 6. The statistical stress regularity of nouns and adjectives of two periods of Lithuanian journalese texts are rather similar, slightly significant being correlation difference of stressed adjectives within intensive frequency zone.
