Cooperation between universities: difficulties of correspondence students in mastering ESP

Abstract

The focus of this article is to explore difficulties that are encountered by correspondence students who study English for Specific Purposes at university level. Students encounter various problems in learning and make mistakes in all language skills, i.e. in writing, speaking, listening and reading, as well as grammar and vocabulary. The research is based on the data obtained from the students’ responses to the specially designed questionnaire. The findings indicated that perceptions of difficulties depend on their level of General English and their previous experience of learning it. Depending on English level, students encountered the same difficulties, but to a different degree.
