Rola festiwali i imprez historycznych w konkurencyjności regionów turystycznych Litwy

Abstract

There are eight historical festivals that take place in Lithuania, These festivals enhanced the competitive ability of regions. The most popular festivals are: "Alive archaeology days" in Kernave and 'The Middle ages festival" in Trakai. The main problems which festival organizers confront are: small budget and a small number of profcsional reconstructors of history. There is one more problem - authenticity. Deficiency of authenticity in reconstructions and pageants creates discontent and disappointment of visitors by this tourist amusement. Also, not very attractive advertisement methods are used in the festivals. Therefore, very few people get information about festivals which are organized in Lithuania, Popularuty and quality of historical events, would be positively influenced by properly developing tourism policy, better support for festivals and appropriate organisation. Also it would be good to collaborate with experts of this kind of tourism and to gain experience in festivals, which are arranged abroad.
