The Lithuanian law traditions are very old. In this article the heritage of Lithuanian state law is analysed and the sources of the law as well as its roots and ways of formation by the end of XIV century are reviewed. It is stated that till the end of XIV century the custom was the prevailing source of law in the Great Duchy of Lithuania. The law of custom normalised and determined private life and legal relations as a system of regulation by the decision of the GreatDuke or other dukes empowered by the Grand Duke.[...]
