Straipsnyje nagrinėjamas dabartinių Lietuvos gimnazijų pedagogų kvalifikacijos kėlimas (nuostatos, motyvai, kryptys, Įgytų žinių taikymas) keliais pasirinktais ir dabartiniu metu aktualiais aspektais.
The article discusses the trends of qualification development of the teachers of Lithuanian gimnazija, their attitudes towards and motives for continuing in-service training, aspects of application of the knowledge acquired. For a teacher of gimnazija who successfully organises the educational process and events, it is necessary to have regard for pupils’ individual needs, interests, abilities, the level of advancement, etc. It is also absolutely necessary to develop one’s teaching qualification on a sustained basis, to know modern theories of education, to be able to use the Internet, different types of software, be conversant in foreign languages. The teacher is ever more often strongly advised to work as a consultant, organiser, assistant, and facilitator. The object of the research is qualification development of the teachers of Lithuanian gimnazija. The aim of the research is to analyse the trends of the qualification development of the teachers of Lithuanian gimnazija, attitudes towards and motives for continuing in-service training, aspects of application of the knowledge acquired. The following research methods have been used: analysis of literature and documents, questionnaires, observation, interviews and discussions, summarising the experience. The research has revealed that, though teachers do not find all the qualification-related events interesting and valuable for them and consider them as not satisfying their needs, they are willing not only to teach others, but also to actively study themselves. Having a heavy workload as they do, they, nevertheless, find time to study. Teachers of gimnazija take an active part in qualification development events, and the motives for such an activity are varied to a notable extent. Positive characteristics are notable with respect to the teaching qualification of gimnazija teachers. The majority of the polled teachers have expressed satisfaction as regards their profession [...]
