It is also noticed in the paper, that epigram seemed to be the literary genre which reflected the tendencies of the Baroque epoch in the best way. One of the most characteristic features of the epoch was a wish to astonish. It also was one of the fundamental requirements made to creation of epigrams, i. e. to astonish the audience by combining opposite things and making an unexpected conclusion.
