Abstract
In the article a divorce development is Spain and Lithuania during 1992 – 2009 is analyzed. Despite the government institutional effort to strive for harmonious family one of the new reality phenomena in Lithuania is the increasing number of divorces. In Spain divorce became more frequent after change of the civil code in 1981. At this time both nations are posted to the European countries with a high divorce level. The authors of the article introduce their attitude how to reduce negative tendencies of the divorce.
