Sport event organizers seek to maximize the socio-cultural and economic benefits more strategically. The main impacts as tangible and intangible effects both positive and negative are important leėgacies. The article examines the correspondence of the requirements of the local organizing committee (LOC) members duties and responsibilities set by the International sport body and reality, i.e. the reflection of the requirements having concrete social context in a stage of the preparation of the European Basketball Championship for Men held in 2011, in Lithuania. Qualitative research using in depth-interviews with twenty LOC responsible persons for seventeen key areas was completed. The complexity of the coordination of EuroBasket2011 LOC activities lies in the fact that persons responsible for the specific areas were unique not only in their professional and personal experiences and delegated functions. They also had clearly to demonstrate the team work, understand the importance of the activities, limited space and time, thus generated intangible value both for national and international sport development.
