Lietuvos turizmas Baltijos šalių kontekste

Abstract

The sense of tourism is increasing. It is developing in the Baltic countries as well. The analysis says, that the largest expansion of tourism during period 1997-2001 year was in Estonia. It's nature-large numbers of visitors and tourists, increasing incomes and spreading hotel network. There is the most positive tourism balance in Estonia as well as relative index of visitors, tourists and incomes from tourism and the number of rooms and places in the hotels for a thousand people, also GNP in commodity and services. Lithuania, according to the rate of tourism development and relative indexes is lagging behind Estonia. According to the level of the hotel network is lagging behind Latvia. Meanwhile in Latvia during the analyzed period the most of indexes had a tendency to decrease. The lowest indexes of Latvia are relative indexes (except the number of rooms and places in the hotels for a thousand people). The situation in Lithuania at the moment makes us to concern because there are all the opportunities for the better development of tourism in this country.
