Contemporary students quite often are considered to represent the generation of Digital Natives (further on: DN) or Social Networkers (further on: SN). However, as the university teachers' practice shows, students are aften reluctant to use the ample opportunities provided by technologies for social networking for their studies, therefore e-learning is limited in many cases. Therefore, the prombem question is formulated as follows: Why students, who seem to be using social networking tools eagerly for everyday life, seem reluctant to use the same (or similar) tools for studies (for organising their own learning)? The aim of the papaer is to present study, including theoretical considerations and empirical data on the paradox of the neture of studies of young students in higher education with the reference to social networking (as one of the forms of e-learning) as one of the channels for learning. The object of the study: the paradox of the nature of studies of young students in higher education with the reference to social networking as a form of e-learning.
