After the analysis of regulatory documents and scientific literature, this article aims to analyze professional activities and potential aspects of social advisers in Lithuania. The study found that a social pedagogue should have com- petences, ensuring children’s socialization optimization principles, patterns and technological knowledge and the application of them as well as he/she must be able to understand the social and pedagogical principles and methods of a self-fulfilling social development goals, on the basis of competence-based knowled-ge.
