Multiple endocrine neoplasia type 2 (MEN2) syndrome is a rare syndrome inherited in an autosomal dominant patern, characterized by medullary thyroid carcinoma with combinations of pheochromocytoma and (or) primary hyperparathyroidism, also other abnormalities typical of a particular subtype of the syndrome. This syndrome is caused by germline mutations of the RET proto-oncogene, with penetrance of almost 100%. According to literature data, among patients with medullary thyroid carcinoma, the MEN2 syndrome is determined even in 20-30% of patients. In lithuania genetic testing of the men 2 syndrome has been carried our only for 3 years. [...].
