The article attempts to define traditional and modern conceptions of vocational education, to reveal the aspects of change in the concept of vocational education, and the changes in vocational training dimensions. The analysis has been based on the works of Bailey (1992), Bridges (1997), Brandsma (1999), Coven (1997), Compter (1997), Juceviciene (2000), Lauzackas (1999), and others. The following conclusions have been drawn: technical, economic, and cultural dimensions of social change are among the primary influences affecting the system of vocational education change, since this system is influenced by external factors. Under the transformation of the traditional vocational education idea which developed into a modern conception of vocational education, the shift of the vocational dimension appeared, especially that of the aim dimension.
