The purpose of this article is to analyze some theoretical aspects of collaboration as alternative method to organize processes in public sector institutions. Intercommunication among government, municipal institutions and other social players becomes much more complex and dynamic. Collaboration becomes the fundamental strategy in pursuance of development of society and state. The partnerships of public sector institutions is used to be initiated and supported to strengthen the relationships between political, economical, social and cultural aspects of government development in Lithuania as well. To understand partnerships principles is relevant issue. Nevertheless, there is insufficient attention paid to these problems in Lithuania. The peculiarities of public-private and public-nonprofit partnerships are researched too little. Intergovernmental collaboration among state and local levels is not analyzed as well. The principals of making collaboration are not highlighted. This article determine basic features of collaboration as a form of organizational interaction, highlights some aspects of collaboration in Lithuania and formulates assumptions to execute further scientific researches to identify problematic areas in development of collaboration in Lithuania.
