Abstract (en)
The article discuss philosophical, religious, and cultural impacts of Masonry in Lithuania during the period since the late 18th to 19th century, with a special focus on the influence of the ideas of the Enlightenment, general ideas of Christianity and Biblical tradition, as well as elements of the occult and mystical traditions as derived from the period of the Renaissance. Lithuanian Masons declared their main principles of self-improvement, nurturing personal virtues according to the analogy of the temple of King Solomon. Lithuanian Masons believed is the intrinsically good nature of the human being, and strived for freedom, moral autonomy, mutual understanding, relevant education and practical charity works.
