Abstract (en)
Listening has been a neglected skill in terms of research and, in spite of it being most needed ability in everyday life, left to a secondary position after speaking and writing. Skills of listening need to be taught like all other language skills. This paper describes research into learners’ self-assessment of listening difficulties and challenges performing listening tests. The findings give insights into the practice of developing listening skills. Useful tips for good practice of teaching effective listening skills in a foreign language have been offered based on the research data and observation of the students’ performance.
