The aim of this work is to investigate the language of manuals and monographs used as subject studies. The object of investigation is some manuals and textbooks chosen at random which: a) are written by Lithuanian scholars or by foreign authors translated into Lithuanian; b) are new and continuously used by students in their stu-dies. The language of some pages selected at random from each book has been studied. Comparison of separate publications has allowed to make the following con-clusions: 1. Publications can be grouped as: a) written in correct language, b) some language correction is needed and c) written in poor language. Publications of the latter group should not be used in learning process. 2. Publications written in poor language contain many wrong words used with the Russian language meaning and terms used in English rather than Lithuanian language. 3. The malady of grammatical forms is that pronominal adjectives and participle forms are not used in compound terms. 4. The most often occurring word building mistakes: irregular combinations and suffix derivatives from foreign languages used in terminological sense.
