It seems that the only constant in today’s world of organizations is change. One of the most important skills leaders and managers can have in these days is the skill to lead and manage change, to understand the personal and the organizational dynamics involved in a change effort, to know the abilities to lead people through one successfully. This study analyzes change process and fundamental aspects for a change effort to be successful. Research findings show that leaders and managers working in organization X the average score on Managing Change Questionnaire (Burke, 1995) is 52 percent. Managing Change Questionnaire score depends on leaders’ / managers’ age and background. Managers’ / leaders’ scores reveals that they are more knowledgeable about the process of change than they are about the underlying dynamics of change. At the end it is said that leaders and managers need greater awareness of the fundamentals of change and need more skill development in leading people through a change effort.
