In the article the author presents comprehensive characterization of the notions of life quality and offers systemic conception of life quality. Moreover, the international comparisons of the consideration of life quality are presented. According to the indicators system of the quality of life suggested by the author, the paper analyses the changes of Lithuanian population's wellbeing and quality of life during the period of market economy: material well-being of the population, demographic indicators, and finally, according to the trends of shift of cultural, moral-ethical and spiritual values.
