The studies of the state and its legal heritage are not only of scientific importance. They are also conductive to the development of the historical method of law knowledge, law culture and professional thinking of jurists and historians. Lithuania's is sovereign law on which the cintinuity of the state is based. The present-day Lithuania is the former kingdom of Mindaugas and the same country that declared its independence on February 16, 1918. The new legal thinking of the general public encourages in-depth studies of the experience gained whilst creating the traditions of the Lithuanian law and to learn this things from his experience.
