The 2020 pandemic has revealed at least two truths: It has changed everything, and it has merely accelerated trends that were already taking place in our world, societies, and economies. Among the many impacts or changes that the pandemic has wrought, one of the most profound has been in terms of the challenges to globalization and the integration of the economies of the world. For many months we have seen business close, borders close, and the economic fortunes and GDPs of states fall, rise, and only fall again. In the spring 2021 with the arrival of the vaccines we thought the worst was over, but with the latest delta wave variant of Covid-19, it is often hard to see the world beyond the pandemic. As with the 1918 pandemic, it does eventually run its course and there will be a world after it. But what will it look like?
