Day care centres as a precondition for purposeful leisure

Abstract

The article analyses purposeful leisure of children from social families in day care centres. The aim of the research is to reveal preconditions for purposeful leisure in day care centres. After analysing theoretical research and documents it might be concluded that day care centres create preconditions and form habits for purposeful leisure for children at risk. Child care centre provides after-school activities for children from families at risk, creates conditions for learning, purposeful leisure and self-realization by engaging them into likeable activities and social skill development. Empirical research showed that day care centres create preconditions for purposeful leisure habit formation for children from social risk fami- lies by implementing sociocultural activities. What is more, day care centre performs socio-educational work with social risk families.
