Work satisfaction has been and remains the subject of countless studies. By utilizing the existing literature a method to study factor impacting job satisfaction in the public sector was designed. A questionnaire was submitted to 183 public sector workers. Results suggest that self-esteem and work satisfaction are closely related. The more a person is self-content the more is likely to be satisfied with his work. This means that there are important limitations to motivations schemes in public organizations and organizations should engage in personality growth, stress and crisis management activities with their workers. This is the first study of its kind in Lithuania.
