Abstract

The work contains three parts. The first chapter contains the analysis of liberalization of textiles and clothes international trade, trade regime changes in Lithuania after entering EU. The importance of textiles and clothes sector in Lithuanian economical and social development, the changes of Lithuanian import and export are shown in the second chapter. The third chapter is up for increasing competitive ability of this sector and development of exports. Finally the deductions are made and some propositions are presented. The purpose of this final work was to explore changes of textile and clothes import and export in Lithuania after entering EU and to forecast opportunities of exports development. Tasks of the work: analyze tools of textiles and clothes trade liberalization; determine and analyze tariff and non-tariff regulation tools in Lithuania and EU; analyze the structure of textiles and clothes import and export and changes of trends; assess import flows according to textiles categories and third countries; identify the ways of increasing competitive ability of this sector and development of Lithuanian textile and clothes exports. After analysis it is noticed that in spite of increasing textile and clothes import and export, the comparative weight of these goods in whole Lithuanian import and export is constantly decreasing. All this confirms it is necessary to take moves for textiles and clothes export promotion.
