The main objective of the thesis was to determine whether female education has any positive influence on their social exclusion. First, the concepts of female education and social exclusion were defined, followed by the analysis of female social status. For the analysis, a wide range of women living in Vilnius area, who are the recipients of various social services, and social workers providing those services were interviewed. The results of the research have confirmed that there are people (families) in all municipalities in Vilnius area that experience social exclusion. As the main reasons for social exclusion the interviewees indicated alcohol abuse and/or addiction to drugs and poverty. The research data proved the multiplicity of the reasons for social exclusion indicated in scientific publications. The research data also showed that social exclusion today is mainly caused by social and economic factors. Based on the analysis of scientific publications and the research it can be concluded that female education can have positive effect on female social exclusion, but the education would be more effective if social services were provided alongside educational efforts. On the other hand, although the analysis of Lithuanian laws regulating adult education, provision of social services and meeting other social needs shows that a sufficient legal basis for female education and socialisation is provided, nevertheless the educational needs minimizing social exclusion are not fully met in practice.
