This masters final thesis is purposive to analyse legal aspects of Panama Canal regime, to establish development of the said regime in the historical – political context. There are analysed the regime of the canal in different historical periods. There are dealing with the prehistory of Panama Canal and circumstances, under wich the Panama Canal was buil and his regime occured. A lot of attention is paid to the history of the legal foundations of the regime. There are explicit analysis of the legal acts, wich adjust legal status of the Panama Canal. The biggest attention is paid to the analysis of legal acts, wich rules in our days. Also there are analysed, the develompent, functions, principles of work, of the Panama Canal institutions. After research concluded in the master’s final thesis there are defined that the regime of the Panama Canal was influenced by many historical and political circumstances. During all it’s existance, the Panama Canal, was operated by several countries, but he always remained as an international canal. This is defined in 1901 treaty between USA and UK. There is stated in this treaty, that the canal remains open to all nations and it can’t be blocked. Panama Canal always was neutral. The neutrality was defined in the said treaty and in all posterior legal acts, wich form legal foundations of the Panama Canal’s regime. Long period of it’s existance, Panama Canal was in the territory with the specific status. Now, Panama Canal is property of the Respublic of Panama it is neutral and opened to all the nations of the world and administered by Panama Canal Authority, panamian institution.
