Culinary heritage makes up an important part of national culture that has a positive impact on the development of tourism in various regions. Steady development of culinary tourism can become an additional source of income and a means of attracting more tourists. However, in order to achieve the set objectives, it is necessary to promote products of culinary heritage properly. It is quite a challenge because ethnographic regions of Lithuania possess a wealth of culinary heritage and therefore selection of products often poses a problem. Promotion of well-known products is currently given most attention in Lithuania. Moreover, traditional methods of promotion are used. However, in the 21st century, when tourists’ tastes and motives are changing, it is becoming more and more difficult to reach them and get them interested in our products in a traditional way. The analysis of methods used to promote culinary heritage in Lithuania shows that culinary trails and museums prevail, yet these methods of acquaintance with Lithuanian regional cuisines are not numerous and they all lead to Aukštaitija. Another way of promotion is membership of the European Network of Regional Culinary Heritage - it is a characteristic sign helping tourists recognise quality products of culinary heritage - or Lithuanian Culinary Heritage Foundation - certificates obtained from this foundation help tourists recognise quality culinary products. Our analysis reveals that beer is currently the best promoted product of Lithuanian culinary heritage. One can get acquainted with this product not only by tasting it, but also through museums and trails. These are only firsts steps taken towards the development of culinary tourism and promotion of Lithuanian culinary heritage products. It is necessary to search for new possibilities to promote exceptional qualities of our cuisine in the European market.
