The article discusses the concept of the learning organization in the context of human resource development and analyses the basic features of the learning organization. Results of meta-analysis of three researches on the development of the basic features of the learning organization in Lithuanian public organizations are presented. They have revealed that assurance of continuous learning and development of learning-enabling environment in the organization are most common whereas employees' involvement in creating organization vision is the least practiced characteristic in the organizations.
