Abstract

In the context of scientific discussions tourism risk identification only with danger and loses is limited. Scientific literature analysis let’s to clarify the tourism risk awareness. Identified problematic situation provides an opportunity to formulate a scientific problem: what risk factors are the most important for inbound tourism sector and how to evaluate and use risk management for successful sector’s functioning and development. With the fast development of tourism in the world, it is important to objectively assess not only the Lithuanian tourism sector competitiveness and prospects, but also the tourism industry operating risks. Lithuania’s geopolitical situation and tourism resources determines the specifics of favorable opportunities for the development of tourism in the country, but last year statistics of the tourism sector, demonstrates a dramatic fall in tourist flow and decreasing the country’s tourism competitiveness in international markets and the growing risks of inbound tourism complex. In Lithuania not enough research is made, which aims to identify and evaluate risks of tourism. The aim of the article – to show the tourism risk classification features. Object – tourism risk.
