The paper analyzes the scientific legitimacy and the legal regulations of the use of psychophysiological examination method in Lithuania. Psychophysiological examination is the person, who is suspected of having committed a crime in the past, body’s psychophysiological reactions capture using a special technique and the analysis of these reactions. Polygraphs are perhaps the most controversial tool in law enforcement. The aim of this article is to familiarize readers with lie detector test (or polygraph test) and to critically evaluate it.
