Date Issued |

The article discusses the development of the process and the system of lifelong learning in Lithuania, where demographic factors require people to stay in the labour market longer and the rapid development of technologies necessitates continuous learning. As a member of the European Union, both the Lithuanian government and its citizens are challenged by a number of new responsibilities, and the ability to fulfil these responsibilities is yet to be acquired. The aim is to show that Lithuanian adult learners have a positive attitude towards overall lifelong learning. Analysis is based on data from the quantitative survey Participation In Formal Adult Education in Lithuania, conducted within the framework of the international research project Towards a Lifelong Learning Society in Europe: The Contribution of the Education System — LLL2010 (supported by the EU Sixth Framework Programme).
