Purpose – To review and analyze the problematic issues which increase the risk of personal information leaks in online social networks. Design/methodology/approach – In this research paper author makes a survey based on information disclosure risk factors in online social networks in order to highlight the trends and habits of the social network users to give away their personal data to third parties. The aim is to figure out ways to which would help to reduce the expected information leaks due to third party activity in social networks. Based on comparative analysis of other studies and research papers author presents findings and possible solutions for the problematic issue. Findings – Author compares other surveys and researches in order to define the trends for personal information disclosure and presents solutions for minimizing the risks.
