The purpose of this article is to illustrate the failure of sociology and to illuminate alack of integrating methodology which can broaden our sociological horizons. A recurrent theme in contemporary social reflection is the compartmentalization of sociology. In sociology still dominate the static paradigms, sometimes the commonsence understanding, which maintains, that one method suffices for all .problems; then we lay the foundation of a closed system. The common-sensical sociology does not see any reasons behind behaviour and beliefs. The demarcation of sociology from other fields of social sciences and philosophy is attempted. Contradictory processes seem to be operating: the tendency towards a clear-cut definition of the sociological field is very strong. On the other hand, the tendency toward interdisciplinary and fusion of several related disciplines, the search of philosophical and metatheoretical substantiation is evident. For this reason sociology needs a philosophical foundation. How does all this relate to philosophy?.
