Value-based healthcare (VBHC) is being increasingly used in health systems to describe a shift in thought from a focus on the financial definition of health care value to a mindset that incorporates the needs of individuals and societal value. VBHC includes such components as patient experience, population health, costs and provider satisfaction. The VBHC concept is based on the definition of the public value of health care - the relationship between the results (from the patients’ point of view) and the resources consumed to achieve them. Without the full support and involvement of physicians, VBHC programs cannot be implemented. No one on value-based health care program has yet been established in Latvia. This study aims to explore the level of understanding of physicians and young physicians about the VBHC.
