The article deals with the recently published work "A Unitarian State and State Formations" by Lithuanian constitutional law scholar Mykolas Romeris (1880-1945), released for the first time to make Book One of Volume Three entitled "State Forms and Constitutional Regimes" of the grand series of works conceived by this author under the title "The State and Its Constitutional Law" that unfortunately remains unfinished. Having given some background facts about this piece of work - finished during the World War II it found its way into the manuscript collection of the Vilnius University Library some twenty-five years later - the article constitutes an attempt to look at its contents through today's eyes. The work is said to be a legal investigation into that particular epoch and is acknowledged to be based on theoretical grounds that remain up-to-date even today. The fact that its findings emerge from the political life events having taken place in the first half of the 2O'h century only gives, in the article writers' opinion, better insight into political life development tendencies and better understanding of modern government organization transformations. The article shows how important the investigation and its findings are to modern constitutional laws studies.
