In this article various forms of creative dialogue between the works of literature and fine art are explored. These two works are the text of the poem entitled «Prie Vrubelio "Alyvi{"» (1957) and written by the Lithuanian poet Judita Vaiciunaite and the painting "Lilac" ("Siren", 1902) by Mikhail Vrubel. Fine art attracted J. Vaiciunaite by the chance of introducing the pictorial code into the space of lyrical expression of the character. This was done in order to exceed the limits of the poet's own experience and to get in touch with the domain of passions. The context of the dialogue is broadened by virtue of two translations of the poem into Russian made by V. Tour.hnova and S. Andrushkievitch. Owing to these translations some new peculiarities of the poem were revealed, and they enriched our interpretation with several previously unrevealed nuances. Focus on the contacts between the word and the picture allows for broadening the context of both Russian and Lithuanian cultures.
