In the practice of forensic pathologists there are cases when autopsy is carried out on young, intoxicated, male victims who had taken part in a fight, had fallen down losing their consciousness after one of the punches and died without regaining it again. Two autopsies have been carried out in our department on young male victims when no distinct pathology or disease has been detected except hematoma subarachnoidale, as a rule very significant in the lower surfaces as well as hematoma ventriculi cerebri. In such cases after the histological examination of arterae vertebralis a rupture in one of the arterae vertebralis has been confirmed. The traumatic rupture of arteria vertebralis and the origin and mechanism of hematoma subarachnoidale still remains a subject of discussion in forensic pathology.
