Abstract
The article proves that the strategy of innovative development of the Ukrainian economy put forward special requirements for the shipbuilding industry as a high tech industry. The most important element of the innovation development of shipbuilding is its staffing by specialists of various levels of training. The leading European experiences, possibilities of its implementation in Ukraine are studied. Here are three key positions for the modern shipbuilding specialist: the knowledge of English; the knowledge of the subject area (professional training); the possession of modern computer technology.
