Managing complexity: from systems thinking to collective intelligence

The paper emphasizes a demand for new competencies development practices addressing complexity, uncertainty and changes of today's business landscape. In spite of its extensive application, Systems thinking has mostly been used and applied by systems scientists and some academics. From the managerial point of view, this article aims to combine findings and suggestions about Systems thinking provided in previous literature in a more integrative framework of intelligence competencies. In addition the paper discuss the relatively new topic of Collective intelligence, which extends the multiple intelligences approach, including Emotional, Social and system intelligence, to the next level in the effort to develop a new perspective for managing complexity. Based on the analysis and synthesis of the scientific literature a conceptual model of intelligence competencies was developed. The conceptual insights designed in this research could be used with further empirical studies to sustain the required generalizability of findings.
