Abstract

Ancient Baltic and Lithuanian myths and rituals represent sacred levels of existence and exceptionally rich, distinctive worldview that formed the basis of human existence and reasoning. Lithuanian ancient culture in its deepest, basic cultural level is defined as a whole of values generated by the ontological givenness of myths, rituals, beliefs and traditions. Human life acquires meaning due to the belief in the sacredness and the purpose of human life is the living theurgic connection with the transcendental, eternal and divine being revealing itself through huge efforts of creative ritual thinking, glowing from the immeasurable universe and starry sky, reaching the depths of the earth through the eternal cosmic cycle, constantly growing and acquiring new features.
