Abstract

A contrastive analysis of the administration models of the support for farming in less favoured areas in Lithuania and Poland is conducted in the article. The object of the research ts the administration of the rural development support measure "Farming in less favoured areas". The analyzed period comprises the year 2004-2006 and the perspectives for the year 2007-2013. Administration models of the farming in less favoured areas in Lithuania and Poland were compared following such criterion: selection criterion and territories, legal basis and requirements, payments and sanctions, administration and control. The differences and similarities of tbe models are displayed in the article. The most important peculiarities of the Polish model are the level of territory division - auditorial land plot (blocs), lesser sanctions. The possibilities for improving the administration of the support for fanning in less favoured areas were identified.
