On the grounds of international court practice, international agreements, and monographic material, the article deals with the problems of continental shelf delimitation. The author of the article comes to the conclusion that continental shelf delimitation must be carried out on the basis of international agreement. Carrying out the delimitation of the continental shelf, it is necessary to take into consideration the following special circumstances: 1) the general configuration of the country's coast, 2) the physical and geographical structure of the continental shelf, and 3) economic circumstances. Having adopted the UNO Convention on the Law of Sea in 1982, the principle of justice - as one of the bases of continental shelf delimitation - has been legally implemented. Countries carrying out the continental shelf delimitation are required to follow this principle.
