Developing social networks in organization management

The paper presents new management practices such as social networks in organization management for addressing complexity, uncertainty and changes of today's business landscape. The paper follows a qualitative research approach: case study prepared by interviewing the company employees. Drawing on qualitative evidence the paper analysis the complex process of the institutionalization of enterprise social network approach in an IT company in Lithuania. Based on the analysis and synthesis of the scientific literature a concept of social networks in organization management was developed. The theoretical insights were supported by empirical evidence from real IT services organization. The analyses of research results revealed that applying social networking in organization was associated with higher networked team as well as organization performance. Social networks could be promoted as being well suited to technology creating and innovative organizations because of their multiple goals, less pronounced managerial authority and presence of powerful professional groups. Because of the chosen research approach, the research results may lack generalizability. In order to generalize the research findings, further research should include more organization form different countries.
